MUTTON BUSTING ENTRIES

Saddle Up, Young Cowboys and Cowgirls! Mutton Busting Entries Now Open for the 2025 JCSP PRCA Rodeo

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Posse (JCSP) is thrilled to announce that online registration is now open for the 2025 Mutton Busting Qualifier, a beloved tradition that kicks off the PRCA Rodeo season. This event offers young riders the chance to showcase their grit and determination in front of a cheering crowd.


🐑 Event Details

  • Qualifier Date: Saturday, June 7, 2025

  • Location: JCSP Indoor Arena, 1315 S Main St, Cleburne, TX 76031

  • Check-In: 9:00 AM and Registration

  • Start Time: 10:00 AM

  • Eligibility: Children weighing 50 lbs or less

  • Entry Fee: $20 per child (plus credit card fees if paid online)

Participants must be weighed at check-in. Safety helmets and vests will be provided. Riders must hold onto the sheep’s wool or body—no ropes allowed.


🎟️ How to Register

Parents can register up to four children at once through the online form. Alternatively, a printable registration form is available for those who prefer to register and pay in person on the day of the event.

🌟 Qualifier and Rodeo Performance

The top 40 riders from the qualifier will advance to perform during the PRCA Rodeo, held from June 11–14, 2025. Each night, 10 young contestants will take center stage. Draw results will be posted on the JCSP website, and it’s the responsibility of parents to check their child’s assigned performance night and ensure they have their back number ready.


👕 Dress Code

All participants must adhere to the following dress code during the PRCA Rodeo performances:

  • Long-sleeved shirt

  • Jeans

  • Boots

  • Cowboy hat or helmet

No exposed feet are allowed at any time.
