Johnson County Sheriff’s Posse 66th Annual PRCA Rodeo Update
May 2, 2020
Cleburne, Texas – It is with heavy hearts that the Johnson County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Committee announces that the 66th Annual Johnson County Sheriff’s Posse Pro Rodeo scheduled for June 10-13 has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Our event is a longstanding tradition for the community, and this was not a decision that came easily for the JCSP Rodeo Committee.
As a community celebration, the cancellation of our annual event comes with public health and safety at the front of our minds, and the Committee was worried that the rodeo would place an undue burden on our dedicated local business partners whose sponsorship make this event possible, as many have been hit hard financially due to the pandemic.
As you all know this year has been like no other and we are living through an unparalled moment in history. The Committee thanks all of the people who make this rodeo happen every year, including our loyal fans and volunteers, and we do not want to put them or their families at risk. The JCSP is incredibly sad and disappointed that we will not be able to bring Pro Rodeo to Cleburne this year, and we hope that this helps in any way to keep your businesses running and lightens your financial burden even in the slightest.
Carrying on our American Cowboy Tradition is important to each of us, the volunteers, sponsors, partner organizations and our community. Coming together to celebrate our Western Way of Life with friends, neighbors and visitors is something we look forward to every June. We tip our hats and extend our appreciation to the community, our fans and sponsors who have stuck with us and help to support the numerous charities and organizations that benefit from the Cleburne Rodeo annually. We could not do any of this without each and every one of you. We are Stronger Together. We look forward to the 67th Annual Johnson County Sheriff’s Posse Pro Rodeo in June of next year.
With the best interests of the community in mind, the organization’s focus will now shift to planning events for later this summer that may include a Cowboys Ranch Rodeo and/or Bull Riding, as well as planning for the 2021 PRCA Rodeo. We are still in the planning phase, but when it is appropriate, we are hoping to provide an event where we can gather together to celebrate the end of the pandemic with a Community Activity/Involvement Day out at the Posse Grounds. We are also looking for new ways to bring western hospitality to the community as we collectively navigate through this difficult time. We know our community is strong and resilient. We will get through this together.
